The hotel index
Blue Peak Socials keeps a short, deliberate index of sixteen hotels across four categories — art, capsule, casino and ice. Each one is described at length rather than scored, because a number has never once told anyone what a building is actually like.

The four categories
Hotels where the collection, the commissions and the architecture are the reason to stay.
Compact sleeping berths engineered for short, efficient, city-centre stays.
Full-service hotels that happen to hold a gaming floor among their facilities.
Seasonal hotels rebuilt each winter from snow and clear river ice.
How the index works
The index is deliberately narrow. Art, capsule, casino and ice hotels are four kinds of building that reward being read side by side, and adding a fifth would dilute the comparison rather than enrich it. Every property on the site sits in exactly one of them.
There are no stars here, no numeric ratings and no ranked lists. Each entry is a piece of written description covering what the building is, how it came to be that way and what staying in it actually involves. Judgement is left to the reader.
Blue Peak Socials does not sell rooms, hold inventory or take a cut of a reservation made elsewhere. Nothing on the site is a live rate and nothing is an availability check. When you have found something worth pursuing, you pursue it with the hotel.
